Samira Makhmalbaf goes to Kabul for making her next film, 5 in the Afternoon. Like before she goes between ordinary people and try to cast for the shooting. But in Afghanistan no one accepts to act in film. Everyone is afraid of the others. Mullah of the city is afraid of people. People are scared if Taliban would come back. Hana Makhmalbaf, Samira's 14 years old sister, follows Samira all the time during her process of casting. The film is focused on four Main characters: A mad family, a Mullah and two women.

Hana Makhmalbaf

Born 03.09.1988, Tehran, Iran.
She started Makhmalbaf film school after she finished second grade and studied cinema for 8 years. She has been the script supervisor and photographer of a few films. Her first film The Day My Aunt Was Sick received international attention at Locarno IFF in 1997 when she was only 9 years old. At age 14 Hana made her first long film Joy of Madness that competed in the Critics Week category at Venice IFF in 2003 and won two awards. She published her first book of poetry 'Visa for One Moment' in 2003 at age 15.

On a rural estate live three brothers, a sister, and their blind, religious mother. Three of the siblings have epilepsy, the fourth and eldest, Augusto does not, and he's about to break away from the family: he's in love with Lucia and planning to move to the city. Augusto's sister Guilia tries to frustrate the lovers, while another brother, Alessandro, hatches a far-reaching plot to free himself of his mother's demands and other family responsibilities, to give Augusto the wherewithal to leave with Lucia, and, perhaps, to pursue incestuous impulses with his sister.

This film presnts a record of the last working year of the old prison of Valparaiso, which closed in 1999. It is a homage to the prison and to the values and customs of the men, who have secretly lived within it during its 150 year history.
