Fund, The Joshua Rabinovit FundAvraham Ezekiel, ninety-two years old Jew was born in Iraq and immigrated to the Land of Israel in 1929. In the 1930's, he was an important journalist of the «Palestine Bulletin» and a bridge between Arabs and Jews and between East and West. The film is an unusual man's journal, through which his grandson Amram Jacobi let his voice be heard and as Grandfather reveals his ancient wisdom to the world.


Amram Jacoby

Born in 1978, Israel.
Canadian-Israeli filmmaker. Graduate of the Film and Television department at the Sapir Academic College. As a filmmaker, he won many grants and prizes. Amram practices stills photography as well as cinematography and one of his main works was the catalogue for Dorit Jacoby’s Exhibition “Gate of Tears, Rain of Roses”, that was shown in Vatican in 2001. His photographs were published in various travel and art magazines, he was awarded a prize at the Dead Sea Photo Contest in October 2002.

On a rural estate live three brothers, a sister, and their blind, religious mother. Three of the siblings have epilepsy, the fourth and eldest, Augusto does not, and he's about to break away from the family: he's in love with Lucia and planning to move to the city. Augusto's sister Guilia tries to frustrate the lovers, while another brother, Alessandro, hatches a far-reaching plot to free himself of his mother's demands and other family responsibilities, to give Augusto the wherewithal to leave with Lucia, and, perhaps, to pursue incestuous impulses with his sister.

This film presnts a record of the last working year of the old prison of Valparaiso, which closed in 1999. It is a homage to the prison and to the values and customs of the men, who have secretly lived within it during its 150 year history.
