This is a journey into the lives of Spanish honeybee keepers in the extreme south of Spain. Hoffmann shot this film over a period of two years, without crew or even a sound man. Alone with a Super 8 film camera, he joined Oliva’s family, expecting to film the traditional honey production before the expropriation of their farm. But day after day, this burlesque adventure is becoming a road movie across the remotest part of Spain, following Bunuel’s footsteps and his mystical film Las Hurdes.

On a rural estate live three brothers, a sister, and their blind, religious mother. Augusto's sister Guilia tries to frustrate the lovers, while another brother, Alessandro, hatches a far-reaching plot to free himself of his mother's demands and other family responsibilities, to give Augusto the wherewithal to leave with Lucia, and, perhaps, to pursue incestuous impulses with his sister.
